Following the VC Festival weekend slated for July 8-9, the Writers’ Workshops, scheduled for July 10-14, are returning to Oakland and Mountain Lake Park this summer. Learn from the best to hone your writing skills.

 

Youth Workshops

The 3rd through 5th-grade workshop, “Wonder of All Wonders: The Natural World,” will be taught by author and educator Charlotte Matthews. This workshop will be held at The Ruth Enlow Library, Oakland branch, from 10:00 a.m. to Noon, Monday through Friday. A final workshop event will be held at the Ruth Enlow Library at 6:00 p.m. July 14.  Known as The Friday Night Reading, participants are encouraged to read from selected work.  Select the button below for full details.

Student tuitions for Matthew’s workshop are generously funded by The Friends of the Ruth Enlow Library.

 
 

The 6th – 8th-grade workshop, “Ready, Set, Write!” will be taught by author and educator Laura Shovan. This workshop, also held at The Ruth Enlow Library, Oakland branch, will meet from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. A final workshop event will be held at the Ruth Enlow Library at 6:00 p.m. July 14.  Known as The Friday Night Reading, participants are encouraged to read from selected work. Adult Workshops

The adult memoir/nonfiction workshop, “One Image in Time and Space,” guided by author and educator Diana Hume George, will be held at the Mountain Lake Park Town Hall from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. Individual conferences, also held at the Mountain Lake Park Town Hall, will be scheduled in the Noon to 1:00 p.m. time frame.  Select the button below for full details.

Tuition is $150 for the five-day course. Class size is limited to ten.

 

The second adult workshop, “The Nuts and Bolts of Children’s Story Writing,” led by author/illustrator Ashley Belote will meet at The Mountain Lake Park Town Hall from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. This course is offered as a hybrid course as participants may attend in person or engage interactively online. Sessions will be recorded. Attendees may also have their work reviewed and critiqued by Belote. The workshop is generously funded by Landon’s Library. Select the button below for full details.
