On Saturday, August 20, 2022, residents and visitors to Garrett County can experience a unique time travel adventure. Beginning at the Historic Center in charming downtown Oakland, Maryland, one can explore three outstanding museums – the Oakland B&O Museum, Garrett County Historical Society Transportation Museum, and the Garrett County History Museum.

At 11:00 AM, attendees can also board the Mountain Lake Park Trolley for a narrated trip to historic Mountain Lake Park. The trolley tour to the mountaintop community will provide riders with a glimpse of the former glory days. The destination will be the Mountain Lake Park Historical Association Museum. The museum’s collection is housed in the original Historic Ticket Office, allowing passengers to browse curated photos and artifacts representing the town’s heyday as a top-rated summer vacation resort first established in 1881. There will be time to enjoy a tasty sundae provided by Devlers Ice Cream before reboarding and returning to the Historic Center in Oakland. The second scheduled departure for this inaugural trolley trip will be at 1:00 PM.

The Oakland B & O Museum will be hosting an open house from 11:00 AM -3:00 PM. While at the Garrett County Historical Society Deer Park porch that faces the gazebo, stop by for a chat with local historian celebrities.

This celebration of Garrett County's history is free to attend. Trolley seating is limited to the first 30 riders with only two round trips scheduled for the day.
