The Victorian Chautauqua is a proud recipient of a $10,000 grant award from the Naylor Family Trust Fund as part of The Community Trust Foundation (CTF).

Committee Chair Bob Spear and the Program Committee's Mary Helen Spear were in attendance to accept the award. Serving Allegany, Garrett, and Mineral Counties since 2010, CTF has provided over $6 million in scholarships and grants to non-profit organizations supporting education, culture, and wellness. The foundation works with donors and community groups to make effective grants to build better, stronger, and more vibrant communities in the region.

"We are so grateful to have been selected from the numerous applicants this year," said Bob Spear. "We have a wonderful program lined up that supports local and regional creativity through live performances at the festival. Having the endorsement and support of CTF has been a wonderful gift."

As chair of the Victorian Chautauqua, Spear is responsible for reviewing income and expenses to keep the festival in the black. With a balanced budget for two consecutive years, the committee works diligently to secure grant funding, sponsorships, and donations from individuals so attendance can be free to the public.

Another important source of income for the Victorian Chautauqua is the Friday evening kick-off dinner. The evening affair is held under one of three large performance tents on the festival grounds, with many attending wearing period attire.

"It is a fun evening with the excited anticipation of knowing the Victorian Chautauqua will start the next day," said Mary Helen Spear who looks forward to putting on her Victorian finery for the event.
